The G20 Summit opens in Rio as COP29 draws to a close in Baku. In SA, it’s ‘committee week’ in Parliament with gender-based violence, transport policy, green hydrogen and digital migration topping the agenda. By-elections on Wednesday offer an indication of trends in party support since the GNU was formed.

The week begins with COP29 in Baku where countries will negotiate financing arrangements to combat climate change. Environmental issues, gender inequality and technology are likely to dominate South Africa’s domestic agenda.

A significant week for international affairs as the U.S. holds elections. In South Africa, MPs head to their constituencies while Cape Town hosts Prince William of Wales.
