The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is observed worldwide.
The National Assembly debates the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign, which begins today. This follows government’s decision on Friday to officially classify gender-based violence and femicide as a national disaster.
The National Assembly will decide whether to establish an ad hoc committee to address violent crime and murder in Cape Town; it will also consider ratifying the agreement to establish the African Export-Import Bank.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile will answer questions in the National Council of Provinces on public-private partnerships to address water and sanitation failures, the water crisis in townships and rural areas, policing and justice issues linked to gang violence, and various land restitution projects.
In Parliament:
- The Standing and Select Committees on Finance hold a joint meeting to consider the draft committee report on the revised and proposed fiscal framework.
- The Portfolio Committee on Mineral and Petroleum Resources is briefed by the Department on the cadastral system.
